Consett Squash Club is run by a team of dedicated and committed volunteers to ensure that all club polices and ethos are upheld and that all decisions undertaken are for the best interest of the club.
Chairman
Michael Easom
The chairman is responsible for the overall long-term direction of the club covering things like current club status and desired future status, project objectives and timelines, fundraising targets and initiatives, grant applications, and maintaining codes of conduct and club policies.
The role of the chairman has responsibility for upholding the club constitution and ensuring player welfare is looked after and takes overall charge of driving ongoing participation in the club at all levels.

Secretary
Craig Gale
The role of club secretary is a pivotal one in any sporting organisation and as a result is one of the most time-consuming roles in the club – the secretary works in tandem with the chairman and also regularly works with all committee members in various ways.
The club secretary is responsible for the administration of new members and team nominations, organising tournaments, maintaining the club website, and for coordinating, announcing and minuting club meetings such as the club AGM.
Treasurer
Jason Cordey
The club treasurer manages the finances of the club, reports on the clubs financial performance and spearheads the fundraising effort to ensure the club has the necessary funds to be successful.
The treasurer takes responsibility for creating and maintaining the club’s annual budget, working with other committee members to generate and collect funds, payments to third parties, preparing and issuing invoices, managing the club’s bank account, issuing payment reminders to members, and seeking approval of the club’s committee for major expenditures.

Our Location
We are based out of Consett Leisure Centre which is home to three glass-back squash courts. Our members use these courts to compete in our internal leagues, tournaments and county competitions. We hold club sessions twice a week at the leisure centre and Consett Rugby Club kindly allows us to use their facilities for our meetings and social events.
Our History
Originally founded in the 80’s, Consett Squash Club has been based out of Consett Leisure Centre since its inception.
Like many other small sports clubs, COVID-19 Pandemic hit the club hard and we lost a lot of members. Working with Club Durham, England Squash and the Leisure Centre management, we returned back to Squash as soon as we could through a series of phased stages, over a period of several months. A club recovery plan was put together In August 2022, which reaffirmed the club’s purpose and to attract new members. The plan was given a terrific boost in March 2023 with a grant being awarded from Club Durham.
